We began the day with a metro (MRT) ride to HarborFront where we boarded an aerial tram that took us to Sentosa.
The subway system in Singapore is amazing. Stations and trains are modern and clean. The trains run frequently. Directions for getting tickets, changing trains and current location are all excellent.
Sentosa is a sort of DisneyWorld/Land. In planning our day, we had decided not to spend time on the island, but wanted the experience of the tram ride.

We again rode the subway, this time to Chinatown. We visited a Hindu temple, a Buddhist mosque as well as explored some of the streets full of shops.
Our next mode of transportation was the hop-on/hop-off bus. We rode two buses covering part of the Heritage Route and the entire City Route. At one point the bus drove along Beach Road. There was no beach. The guide explained that reclamation projects have been so extensive that there is now over 1/2 mile of land between Beach Road and the beach.
We returned to our hotel for some late-afternoon relaxation before heading out on a night safari at the Singapore Zoo. The safari is covered in a separate blog posting.
Singapore is +8 UTC versus Boston at -5 UTC so 8 AM in Boston is 9 PM in Singapore.
